For my research paper, I will be doing an analysis of the positive and negative effects on a typical student's everyday life impacted by the trendy social media website and application, Facebook. As with any social media site, Facebook is time-consuming and distracting, yet very useful and entertaining at the same time. A couple positive aspects of Facebook I plan to explore is that the site allows for social networking, communication, expression, advertising, interconnecting and building self confidence. On the other hand, some of the negative aspects of Facebook I have noted is the application's ability to distract, cause distrust and distress and create a lack of interpersonal skills. By analyzing these aspects of Facebook, it will provide us with a better understanding of how exactly the site impacts us and continues to be relevant today.

ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting and it definitely is co-dependent with Psychology. As a Psychology major I was drawn to the idea of social media's effect on a students behavior, actions, thoughts, and mood. This issue was specifically salient to me because of my own recognition of emotions felt while perusing social media and I also like you image from Futurama.
